Food Biotechnologist

Peace of Meat

We are expanding our team in Belgium and seek to hire a passionate food biotechnologist to help advance food innovation from the basic food lab bench to the applied pilot plant.


• Support the food R&D unit in attaining short-term and long-term product design and development goals

• Literature research on meat flavour development on a molecular level, followed by transferring theory to empirical research in the food lab

• Design, coordinate, develop novel product from scratch to market maturity and ensure results documentation

• Work with cross-functional scientific and commercial teams, evaluate technical feasibility from food perspective

• Drive intersectional research between food science and cell biology to generate flavoured cell biomass

• Participate in internal sensory panels

• Develop ingredient statements and ensure products meet appropriate food safety standards

About the candidate

• Master’s degree or PhD in Food Biotechnology , Food Science or related fields and 3-5 years of relevant industry experience

• Fundamental understanding of meat and/ or flavour science on a molecular level

• Proven track record for creating/ working with innovative novel technologies

• Ability to think and work independently and manage multiple projects

• Willing to travel 10-20% of the time to visit various research partners
