Team Leader - Medium

In order to commercialise cultured beef as a resource efficient, sustainable and animal friendly alternative to livestock beef, a crucial challenge is developing animal-free cell culture medium.

As leader of the Medium Optimisation team, you will direct Mosa Meat's efforts to optimise a serum-free medium for bovine myoblast proliferation and differentiation.

- Lead one of the most important projects needed to commercialise cultured meat

- Manage a team (initially around three people but with large potential to grow)

- Report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer (Prof Mark Post)

Your responsibilities:

- Lead development of several animal-free media for the proliferation phase and the differentiation phase

- Maintain and further develop external relationships with partners in medium development

- Identify and initiate novel IP on cell culture media and support its documentation

- Identify and support interaction with other teams whenever necessary

- Organise and maintain communication within the Medium Optimisation team and between teams

- Collaborate with quality control and with regulatory to set up SOPs, quality monitoring and documentation towards a regulatory file

- Supervise a PhD student on a daily basis to support his/her academic track

- Supervise students completing internships

What we're looking for:

- PhD or equivalent industrial experience (>3 years) in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical or chemical engineering

- Knowledge of and experience in cell biology, preferably metabolism

- Experience in industry R&D (preferable)

- Experience with data and protocol management for regulatory submission

- Experience with managing teams and supervising academic coworkers

- Good communicator, team-player, minimum B2 level English

- Availability to commence soon (preferable)
