Senior Scientist - Large Scale Cell Production

We're working on a challenging and incredibly exciting mission: to bring cultured meat to market. To do this, a crucial part is developing food-safe microcarriers and scaffolds to support industrial-scale cell production.

Our Large Scale Cell Production team is currently looking for a Senior Scientist to focus on these areas. As a member of our friendly and dedicated team, you'll be part of creating a brand new process for making meat in a sustainable and animal-friendly way.

Your responsibilities

- Develop and characterise bio-compatible microparticles and 3D scaffolds with desirable properties

- Conduct cell and tissue culture of bovine stem cells

- Work creatively on various strategies including material selection, crosslinking and functionalisation approaches

What we're looking for

- PhD or equivalent research experience in biomaterials, biopolymers or related field with a solid background in organic synthesis

- Experience in the development and characterisation of biomaterials, especially with natural/food-grade polymers and hydrogel synthesis

- Knowledge of and preferably experience with cell-biomaterial interaction

- Experience with microparticle production techniques such as microfluidics

- Experience with cell culture (highly desirable)

- Passionate about our mission, and excited about working in a commercial start-up environment

- Good verbal and written communication skills (minimum B2 level English)

- Ability to commence soon (desirable)

- permission to work in the EU (desirable)
