Junior Technician - Muscle Tissue Engineering

We are currently looking for a junior technician to join our team of Cell Biologists and Biomaterial Scientists. As a member of our friendly and very dedicated team, you will do cell culture, carry out culture of 3D muscle tissue constructs, use western blotting and qPCR for the evaluation of maturation of cultured meat.

Your responsibilities

Carry culture of bovine muscle stem cells to perform experiments in 2D and in various 3D culture settings.

Design and perform experiments related to the increase of muscle-related gene and protein expression and maturation of organoid constructs in collaboration with other team members.

Collect, analyse, and learn to interpret experimental data.

Assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory by preparing aliquots, taking care of the general order and equipment in a proactive and self-motivated manner

What we're looking for

Bachelors or Master’s degree in a (cell) biological, biomedical or biotechnology subject, including prior laboratory experience. Candidates with PhD or equal education will not be considered for the role.

At least 1-3 years of experience as a technician either in private setting or university (desirable).

Experience with cell culture and aseptic technique (essential), although no specific knowledge of bovine, muscle cell culture is required.

Experience with some standard molecular biology techniques, e.g. a selection of PCR, PAGE, western blotting, (essential).

Experience or interest in stem cell biology (essential).

Experience with biomaterials and tissue engineering (desirable).

Passionate about our mission, and excited about working in a commercial start-up environment.

A hardworking, organised and dedicated team-player.

Good verbal and written communication skills (minimum B2 level English).
