Pilot Plant Manager

As the Pilot Plant Manager, you will be a key member of our Food Process Commercialization Team responsible for pilot plant operations and scale-up of new food sources for replacement of egg ingredients with more sustainable plant-sourced alternatives. The Pilot Plant Manager will be involved in pilot plant processing trials, sample creation, and equipment operation.

Role & Responsibilities:

- Plan and set up food processing equipment and unit operations for pilot trials or sample production purposes, with coordination with the Food Process Engineers

- Participate in the drafting and modification of SOPs for processing unit operations

- Troubleshoot pilot plant equipment and systems with engineering teams, including instrumentation and automation

- Manage electrical and other contractors for repair and upgrades to equipment

- Evaluate equipment operating parameters and determine optimal ranges for the unit operations

- Manage sampling and analysis to maintain quality standards of raw materials and products

- Establish, maintain, and execute sanitizing procedures

- Request and manage labor as necessary to meet goals

- Work with rest of Commercialization Team to specify technologies for Ops to look for in a production partner

- Order and inventory materials to maintain equipment for the pilot plant

- Participate in HAZOP process for process safety review and improvement


- Bachelor degrees in Food, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

- 6+ years relevant food or pharmaceutical processing experience. Must have strong hands-on experience in a pilot plant cGMP processing plant setting

- Strong experience with several types of food processing equipment

- Experience in cGMP and sanitary food grade processing

- Good interpersonal and communication skills

- Flexibility to work with schedules that are required for the pilot testing and production campaign

- Mechanical aptitude is required.

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
