Pilot Plant Manager - Cell Culture

As the Pilot Plant Manager for our Cellular Agriculture Department, you will be a key member of our Bioprocessing Team and essential in the production of our sustainable and cost-effective clean meat products. You will partner with Process Development, Quality Assurance, Facilities, Engineering and other members of our organization to scale up our animal cell culture platform and routine production in the Pilot Plant.


Manage pilot plant operations and schedule, to meet the technical/production targets

Ensure safe work environment for all pilot plant operations

Lead and motivate the pilot plant team during a period of growth, shifting priorities, and expanding capabilities

Mentor, develop and lead a team of talented associates and technicians; partner with HR to hire and grow group

Assist in technology transfer and scale-up/scale-down activities from R&D to pilot plant

Ensure proper documentation to meet quality assurance requirements

Lead and implement the continuous improvement of operations that drive efficiencies

Work effectively with cross-functional members of the organization to successfully scale and operate our Pilot Plant

About You:

**Education & Experience **

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical / Biochemical / Biological Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years of experience in biotechnology /or biopharmaceutical industry

4+ years of experience leading a team, managing others directly or indirectly

Strong technical background in cell culture processing, equipment and control systems

Proven technical experience in transferring technologies from R&D to pilot scale

**Skills & Qualifications **

Strong knowledge of GMP is preferred

Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to train and manage

Excellent organization, technical writing and communication skills

Ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines for pilot scale production

**Additional Information & Requirements **

This is a regular full-time position based out of our headquarters in San Francisco, CA. Given needs of plant, plant training, and plant support shift schedules, the role will require flexibility with hours and require the Manager be readily available to address operational issues and alarm systems as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and is frequently required to work standing for extended periods of time as well as climb stairs/ladders and elevated work platforms.
