Quality Manager

Geltor is looking for a QUALITY LEAD to join our team in San Leandro, CA.

The Quality Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive quality program at Geltor. The ideal candidate will be driven and contribute to a small team in a fast paced, collaborative start-up environment. Quality Assurance and Quality Control expertise in food with knowledge of fermentation-derived food products preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of quality assurance systems, programs, activities

- Ensure manufactured products comply with company specifications, policies and government regulations (health, food safety, and labeling)

- Work closely with Quality teams at 3rd party manufacturing sites to ensure implementation of Geltor’s quality programs and requirements, facilitate audits and resolve quality-related issues

- Advise internal teams on quality matters related to the development and scale-up of new products

- Collaborate with 3rd party regulatory experts and internal teams to ensure necessary regulatory compliance for Geltor’s target global markets

- Responsible for product release, 3rd party batch record review and generating final COA

- Manages regular product review, retention samples and quality assurance monitoring program

- Coordinate quality related programs including but not limited to SPC, allergen, HACCP, microbiological testing, weight control, product recall and self-audits

- Maintain compliance for certifications (Kosher, Halal)

- Analyze non-conformities and quality problems to determine root cause and implement corrective action including addressing customer complaints

- Implement and maintain GMP procedures including document generation and review, monitor statistical process control data and generate CAPA as needed.

- Facilitate problem solving and develop a culture of Food safety and product quality continuous improvement.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Food Science, Biological Sciences or similar

- Minimum 5+ years Quality Assurance and Quality Control experience in the food industry at managerial level 

- Firm understanding of GMP, HACCP, SSOP, SQF Certification process and FSCC. Thorough understanding and knowledge of 21CFR117

- Knowledge of FSMA and GFSI certification experience with SQF, BRC, or FSSC.

- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) a plus

- Self-starter with good organizational skills; able to work effectively in cross-functional teams, provide strong analytic and process design skills, root cause analysis, training and general communication

- Some travel will be required
