Business Development & Sales Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time

Role and Responsibilities:

- Recommend commercial growth strategies to leadership, including new partnerships and product expansions

- Develop frameworks for prioritizing and evaluating trade-offs between various commercial opportunities

- Bring structured, analytical approaches to support well-articulated hypotheses and efficient decision-making

- Understand the needs of partners and develop strategies to maximize the mutual value of the alliance

- Facilitate information transfer between partners, and proactively resolve business, technical, and contractual issues

- Support business development efforts by researching, sourcing, negotiating and closing sales leads

- Challenge the status quo of long sales cycles, take measured risk, and knock down barriers that impede growth

- Develop and own commercial reporting capabilities including KPI dashboard and CRM database

- Recommend go-to-market strategy for and project manage new product launch opportunities

- Assist with cross-functional business activities including forecasting and supply chain operations

- Conduct white space analyses, channel strategy development, and long-term planning models

- Develop executive-level presentations and documents for internal and external audiences


- 4+ years of experience in business development, sales, management consulting, and/or investment banking

- Experience at a high-growth startup in the biotechnology, food, and/or agribusiness sector a plus, but not required

- Bachelor’s degree in a business, technical, or engineering field preferred

- Ability to engage and influence cross-functional partners to gain alignment on initiatives and deliverables

- Capacity to handle ambiguity and adapt to changing business needs with a bias for action

- Strong organizational and prioritization skills under tight and competing deadlines

- Excellent project management, problem solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills

- Mission-driven, resourceful, team-oriented, and low-ego with a positive attitude

- Must be authorized to work in the United States for Clara Foods
